Recipe Highlights

  • Chick-Fil-A Copycat — This Apple Cider and Dijon Mustard Vinaigrette is a close copycat to the Chick-Fil-A version. If you are looking for a recipe to make your own homemade version whenever you like, this is the recipe for you.
  • Quick & Easy Dressing — This is a simple salad dressing that takes less than 5 minutes to make.
  • Versatile — Chick-Fil-A uses this salad dressing on their Kale Crunch Salad, but this dressing works well on any type of green salad as well as grain-based salad bowl recipes.

Ingredients & Substitutions

The ingredients needed to make the apple cider dijon vinaigrette.
  • Apple Cider Vinegar: Apple cider vinegar is one of the main ingredients in this dressing. Use a high quality apple cider vinegar for the best flavor. If you don’t like apple cider vinegar, you can use white wine vinegar as a substitute.
  • Dijon Mustard: Dijon is the second main ingredient in this dressing. Regular mustard does not work as a substitute.
  • Olive Oil: Use a high quality extra virgin olive oil. You can use another type of oil as a substitute, such as sunflower oil, avocado oil or vegetable oil.
  • Maple Syrup: A bit of maple syrup adds the right balance of sweetness to the vinaigrette. You can use another type of sweetener, such as honey or agave syrup.
  • Garlic Powder: You’ll need a small amount of garlic powder. You could use a small spoonful of fresh garlic as a substitute.
  • Salt & Pepper: A small dash of salt and pepper brings out the rest of the flavors in this vinaigrette dressing.

Step By Step Instructions

Step 1: Add the apple cider vinegar, Dijon mustard, olive oil, maple syrup, garlic powder, salt and pepper to a mason jar.

Expert Tips

  • Store dressing in the fridge. Store this dressing in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week.
  • Adjust the sweetness. This dressing has a slight tang to it. If you like sweeter dressings, you can add up to 1 extra tablespoon of maple syrup.
  • Shake well before serving. This dressing separates quite easily. Always shake the dressing vigorously before pouring it over your salad.

Recipe FAQs

How do you make a Kale Crunch Salad?

This Apple Cider Vinaigrette is used to make Chick-Fil-A’s Kale Crunch Salad. For the salad ingredients, you will need green cabbage, fresh kale and roasted chopped almonds.

Why did this dressing solidify in the fridge?

Sometimes vinaigrette dressings can become slightly solid in the fridge. If this happens, let the dressing sit on the counter at room temperature for 10 to 15 minutes, then shake it vigorously to recombine it.
