Description
These Za’atar Bread Crumbs are an easy to make copycat recipe for one of Sweetgreen’s tastiest salad toppings. All you need is bread, olive oil and za’atar seasoning.

- 2 slices of day old bread
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 1/2 tsp za’atar seasoning
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350F.
- Cut the slices of bread into 1 inch pieces and place them in a food processor. Pulse a few times until the bread has broken down into large crumbs.
- Transfer the crumbs to a small bowl. Drizzle the olive oil and za’atar seasoning over the crumbs and toss to coat them evenly.
- Spread the bread crumbs evenly across a baking sheet. Bake on the top shelf for 5 to 10 minutes until they are golden brown.
Notes
- Don’t over-blend the bread crumbs. Only pulse the bread crumbs until they are broken down into crumbs. Don’t over-blend them, otherwise they will become a powder.
- Watch the crumbs closely while baking. These bread crumbs can burn quickly. Watch them closely and remove them from the oven as soon as they turn golden brown.
- Store in the fridge. Store leftover breadcrumbs in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 10 days.
